Liam Kurmos

Liam is the creator of Astralship, he bought a Chapel in Snowdonia in 2010 while studying for CS PhD and fell in love with the idea of a unique space that blends technology, innovation, creativity and flow.

Liam leads with a vision of creating a transformative incubator where rapid prototyping, decentralized applications, and cutting-edge technologies are brought to life. For 13 years Liam has lead the Technology Company Astral Dynamics CYF, He has spearheaded projects ranging from innovative web applications, DevOps, and AI such as LLM fine-tuning and RAG systems, fostering a creative environment that embraces technology and collaboration.

In addition to his role at Astral Dynamics, Liam currently serves as part-time CTO of The Data Exchange, focusing on data-driven solutions with a hybrid working model. His previous experiences include his work at Software Alliance Wales, where he facilitated collaboration between the academic and business sectors, lecturing, providing training and allowing students to gain valuable industry experience. He’s also held roles in Japan, notably as a Client Support Manager at Dream Access, where he managed IT systems and client relations for a venture that was later acquired by Fujitsu.

Liam holds an MSc in Theoretical Physics from the University of Sussex and an MSc in Computer Science from Bangor University, and a BSc in Physics with Japanese. He enriched his education through numerous international exchange programs, studying at institutions such as Kyoto University and Uppsala University. He both traveled and worked in Sustainable Technology in India. These experiences have given Liam a broad, global perspective, along with strong cross-cultural communication skills.

Liam is passionate about the intersection of technology, innovation, and human potential. He draws inspiration from his diverse background, which blends physics, software development, and international experiences to create impactful projects. When he’s not leading Astralship, Liam enjoys exploring new ways to merge decentralized technologies with real-world applications, especially in sustainability and creative industries.
