Heather Allansdottir

Heather Allansdottir is a writer and an academic of constitutions and outer space law. Her work on constitutions includes her doctoral work on the three constitutions of Egypt’s revolution, her work in Iceland on collaborative constitution drafting processes, and her work at Newspeak House College of Political Technology in London on collaborative governance documents. Her work on outer space law includes her work as founder of the ‘space sustainability company’ Astrodottir, her forthcoming co-authored book New Perspectives In Outer Space Law, and her role as a legal advisor at the ‘space and human rights’ organisation Jus Ad Astra.

These two strands will come together in her work as a residential fellow at Astralship.

The first voyage will be the voyage of constitutions: this will bring together Icelandic and Welsh civic and digital activists, to collaborate on establishing principles and possibilities for collective governance documents, and explore the role of globally-minor languages within this. This will work in tandem with the launch of the podcast How To Write A Constitution and a series of talks on constitution drafting processes around the world documented here: www.writingaconstitution.com.

The second voyage will be the voyage of the stars: bringing together scholars and practitioners on space sustainability, and coinciding with a star-gazing mindfulness retreat. This will combine with Heather’s existing project Decolonise the Cosmos (www.decolonisethecosmos.com).

The third voyage is the voyage within: initiating and stewarding the devising of the ‘Code of Being’ of the Astralship space, and formalising structures such as the volunteer network and community engagement.

Heather will document her time at Astralship on her Substack: allofallansdottr.substack.com, on an Astralship Substack and initiate the creation of an online space for the history of the En Gedi church. Feel free to reach out to her for ideas for collaboration and positive use of the Astralship space during her residency.
